Mk V Mondeo tailgate

Featured Replies

The grab handle in the tailgate of my mondeo has come off completely,  leaving the nuts inside the trim of the tailgate.   How do I remove the trim to get to the nuts and reattach the handle?

You should be able to undo the nuts with an extension on your socket. You can't remove the trim without removing those bolts.

If it's just the top of the grab handle then it just clips back on.

Hi, it is the whole grad handle that has come away, the bolts are in the handle but the nuts are in tailgate....

I can't picture it for some reason, and I've lost count how many times I have removed the tailgate trim.

I admin a Mk5 Facebook group, it's a great resource and easier to post pictures of your problem.

If you fancy joining our community then pop over to the page 👍

If you don't have FB or just don't fancy joining us then if you can post a couple of pics here then I'll be able to visualise the problem better and help you.

How do I remove the trim in the tailgate please

The two 7mm nuts need to be removed from the grab handle and then it's a case of prying all the clips. Start from the top at the middle and work down.

Hi, I have the same problem. The screws have come out of the handle and what must be the holding nuts behind the panel have become detached and are now loose inside the trim. I wonder how to remove the internal tailgate trim.

Have you joined my Facebook group for the Mk5? I have done a guide on there. There is loads of other info too, it could save you a fortune joining the group as we have loads of how to guides and extremely helpful members. Link is in the comments above.

Hi Jonro,  I tried to join using my Mrs Facebook account but not sure if it worked. Never mind, I will work it out myself.
