Hi all i have a 2004 mondeo mk3 2.0 tdci it was running then would cut out so decided to change the fuel filter i filled the new one with fuel but now not starting i got a hand pump and connected it to the outlet of the filter got the air out but still wont start.

so connected the pump to the pipe from the tank was at it for 10 mins and could not get any fuel to come through.

 

any ideas? 

Have you got the fuel line and the tank return lines crossed over ?

Is your hand pump a new one or a borrowed one. I only ask because mine, which I've had for a couple of years now, will not work without being primed. I think the diesel has hardened up the non return valve. I can get it going, but I have to put my finger over the end while I release the pump and take my finger off when I pump (if that makes sense). Once I've got diesel through the pump, it works fine. 

It's also a good idea to have a tub of diesel to pump into the inlet of the filter to push the air out of the pipework from the filter to the main pump. 

I found this out when the hard way after changing my filter.

Try cracking the injector pipe after priming ,1 at a time while someone else turns it over till the airs out
