2017 Mondeo Mk5 2.0 tdci engine code compatibility

Hi Folks,

I'm looking for some advice please on engine code compatibility for a Mk5 Mondeo 2.0 TDCI euro 6 engine. I have a 2017 plate 2.0tdci 180PS powershift with engine code T8CC which has had top end damage (and possible bottom end) after one of the two major breakdown companies locked it up with easy start and 8 teeth stripped from the cambelt.  All the exhaust rockers have broken.

Quickest option I thought would be to replace the engine with a used unit but can't find another T8CC engine. Would any of the Euro 6 engines from the S-max or Galaxy be compatible (code such as T8CJ)?  If so, would they be a straight swap or would any mods be required, such as wiring / connectors

Second option is to fit a recon head and hope the bottom end is ok -  don't know how strong these engines are but it was only turning over at engine cranking speed when it locked. Piston protrusion has been measured and looks ok, but garage is concerned there could be damage to bearing shells or potential issues with gudgeon pins.

Or bite the bullet and remove the block, get it rebuilt at major cost, then fit recon head.

It's been a 4 month nightmare so far so any help would be greatly appreciated.
