loades
I've owned my Edge since January and still haven't worked everything out. Every now and then, completely out of the blue it announces "Caution". Just what it's trying to warn me of I have no idea. I'm driving perfectly normally, good distance from the car in front and it will call out "Caution". To my passengers it looks like there's danger ahead. What triggers the call of "Caution"?
TDCiST
You have hazard warnings turned on in your Sync system. it will do this for red light cameras and speed cameras, I think it also does it for accident hotspots too?
DAVEWILL5
Hi Sorry have to disagree with TDCiST You have the Pre Collision Alert setting ON, but that just alerts you to getting too close to vehicles in front, or to corners, bends, hedges etc whilst driving It doesnt warn you of Red Lights or Speed Cameras. There are 3 settings to Pre Collision Alert, High, Normal and Low. I assume yours may be set to High, which picks up a lot of things that it thinks are "dangers" in front of the car, but actually are not. If it is set to High change it to Normal and see how you get on then. Thats what mine is set to and i do occasionalloy get a "random warning" but nothing too often

My pre collison assist just beeps loads and flashes a big red rectangle on the screen in front of me. My last ST (Mk3.5 Focus) didnt have pre collison, but still shouted "Caution" at me, with the Hazard Warnings on. This is for Speed Cameras and Red Light Cameras. The "caution" from the Sync System must be different on the Edge, as if I turn Hazard Warnings off, you don't hear "Caution" through the Speakers...
unofix
Just to clarify the situation: 'Hazard warnings in the Sync system' is not the same as 'Pre Collision Alert' the two things are different systems.

DAVEWILL5
Hi Ok so i have turned on Visual and Chimes as above What am i supposed to see or hear? If i go above a speed limit or approach a red traffic light or a speed camera site, nothing visual on the dashboard, nor any warning sounds are heard i'm on Sync 3 by the way
unofix
You "may" get a warning of Caution, but then again you might not. It is only for 'Fixed Speed Cameras' and some known accident black-spots, also 'Red Traffic Light Cameras' (not red traffic lights). Also if you exceed a speed limit by more than 5 mph, but that depends on what you have set in the IC.
Tizer
And it is only Fixed Speed Cameras that are on the Data Base which varies depending on how up to date your maps are, not Mobile ones. Mine doesn't give me a warning for speeding but the Speed limit sign on the Dash flashes instead despite have Visual and Chimes on. There might be another setting for this but I don't want it so I have never looked.

Yes, our local force (North Yorks) and the next one up (Durham) use mobile cameras (vans or hand held) which pop up almost anywhere***, so I only get the "Caution" warning (sometimes) when in other areas. (*** I was a bit taken aback a few weeks ago, driving through a village in Wensleydale, to spot a Police motorcycle in the village churchyard, which is slightly elevated above the road. The officer was lurking with his handheld speed gun behind a gravestone!)

Yeah - Mostly I use Waze and when I hear CAUTION (from Ford maps/sync) I look at Waze and see a camera icon ahead

I get a barely audible chime when exceeding the speed limit. What setting do you use to get it to say "caution"?
Edge of Reason
The caution notification is in navigation settings.

Edge of Reason
Not sure about the chime, but the volume of the spoken “caution” is controlled from the navigation volume. Basically navigate anywhere and while you are given a direction command, turn the volume knob up. If you are happy with that volume, you should be happy with the volume of “caution”. It also seems quite random as to its volume. Some days for me it's quite low and occasionally its nice an loud ... it's been one of my personal bug bears about the car since I bought mine nearly 6 years ago!

I had a very brief period a couple of months ago when it was nice and loud, but it didn't last and is barely audible again, especially with the stereo on.
