Driver seat and steering wheel adjustments for a larger driver

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have a 2013 Ka and I would like to find out if anyone knows how I can adjust the existing drivers seat to make it lower than it currently is. I have used the levers to make it as low as possible but it’s still not enough.

Are there any custom seats that anyone knows of, that are lower?

Or, failing that, is there anywhere that can modify my car to make the steering wheel higher? I have used the lever to make it a bit higher but it’s not quite enough.

I am a larger driver and the current configuration of the seat and steering wheel is not comfortable when driving as I am sandwiched between the two.

Due to health reasons I am finding it harder than the average Joe to lose weight, although I am trying… but it’s making driving very difficult and I don’t want to have to buy a bigger car if there is some sort of customisation that can be done to the seat and/or steering column.

Any help, ideas, information welcome.

Thanks!

Your best bet would be to speak with one of the companies that do Adaptations for people with Disabilities. Don't take that the wrong way, no offence meant.

They may or may not be able to do something to help and if they can it may be expensive. You may need to speak with your Insurance company as well.

With respect to buying a bigger car, the newer model cars are usually much bigger on the outside but not so on the inside because of all the things that are needed to comply with the safety legislation so you would need to shop around carefully to find something that is suitable.

move the seat back if possible and use a seat belt extender
