Help with fuses please.

Featured Replies

Good evening folks. I am hoping someone may be able to help out with a little issue I have with my 2013 Titanium X.
Recently, my cigar lighter fuse blew and when I replaced it, my rear wipers, heated front seats and parking assist all stopped working. It may be a coincidence but having checked all of the fuses for the above, they are all fine.
Is there a master fuse which powers these instruments please guys? This is driving me insane!

Many thanks in advance!

Chris.

The above are controlled in the rear fuse box, in the boot I believe. If all those fuses look ok then look at the fuse box in the engine bay. Look at F19 and F20 as they supply the feed to the rear fuse box, one of them could be blown.

Do you have a multimeter? You could check the fuses in the rear are getting power with that.

Just a hint.......

A multimeter will tell you what the voltage might be, but not how much power (ie Volts x Amps) you can draw from that point.  Stick a load on it, like a 501 W5W filament bulb, and see how bright it is.

A voltmeter does not draw any noticeable current from the source, as it will be a very high impedance, so measuring 12.6V does not mean that anything can be powered.

Of course, you're right, but not sure what the relevance is to what I posted 🤷‍♂️ As I said, a multimeter will tell you if there is power (voltage) going to the fuses or if they are dead, I didn't say it would tell him how much or if it was enough. The OP wouldn't need to know how much 'power' there is in the first instance, just that it is getting some. If it turns out that the rear fuse box is not isolated but the functions are still not working then he can look at if there is enough current.

Chris, it may be worth trying the trusted old 'turn it on and off again'. Disconnect the battery for 5 mins (you may need the radio code afterwards) and then reconnect.

Thank you so much guys. I’ll try what you’ve suggested. I’ll let you know if I have any success.
