Should I remap?

Featured Replies

Hey all,

So I got my 2019 1.0 ST Line (120) a few days ago after 6 years with an Astra GTC 1.4 (140) and as much as I want to, I'm just not feeling it at the moment. Great looking car, much better mpg and feels nicer but it just missing something. The astra was no speed demon but it had the power when you needed it. The Focus just feels so.... meh. So I'm wondering if I should go for a stage one remap to give it that little kick I feel it needs.

Has anyone else done a remap on the 1.0 and lived to tell the tale? If so which company did you go with? I'm currently looking at Superchips or Rica but am open to suggestions.

Thanks in advance.

Good Morning!

Finally, I changed the map, no more ACT for good!

It is ... it is AWESOME! The car finally is normal! Accelerating in 2000-3000rpm range is smoother. Engine works very pleasant, less gently shaking. Driving in a city and calm driving is so nice. When stopped and engine is on, no single shake to be feel.

As I have described, vibrations happen when it is cold, I will have to wait for autumn. One time my car was charging on 14.7V level and was no vibrations, so I have deep hope for no more of this unpleasant effect.

Drawbacks, according to Ford documentations, fuel save from ACT is 6%. Maybe some  DTC and warranty, but my car is not on the warranty any more.

There is also device which allows to swap between the maps. The map is from company rica.nl

Yea I saw that hence Rica being on the list. Was hoping for a bit more feedback but thank you.

There have been very few posts regarding remapping the Mk 4 1.0 Focus, which probably explains the lack of feedback here.

Thinking back to earlier threads such as:

https://www.fordownersclub.com/forums/topic/110653-ford-focus-2018-ecoboost-10-125-hp-vs-15-150hp/

it is perhaps worth mentioning that the Mk 4 Focus got the revised (reversed head, chain cam drive) version of the 1.0 ecoboost, similar to the 1.5. Later versions were available with MHEV.

There seems to be very little on offer for the revised engine, compared with the earlier wet belt versions, for which a lot more options are available.
