Kuga Titanium 2018 lights on at front but not back?

Featured Replies

Hello

I bought this used 2018 Kuga a few weeks ago.

The default side light position seems to be lights on at the front but not the back!?

Move the switch once to get side lights at back and front and again to get headlights.

Is this correct behaviour?

Cheers

Geoff

There are no longer lights called 'Side Lights' on European/UK specification vehicles built 2011 onwards.

There are 'Parking Lights' which operate small lamps at the front and also the rear lights. As the name suggests these can be turned on when the vehicle is parked by moving the light switch from the default position of 'Automatic' to the picture of the small lamp.

Vehicles built 2011 onwards are also equipped with 'Day Running Lights' which are white lights on the front of the vehicle only. They differ is style, type, and size from vehicle to vehicle. DRL's will always switch on as soon as the ignition is turned on and are not controlled by the light switch. It is important to note that DRL's do not turn on the rear lights.

In normal every day use the main light switch should be left in the 'Auto' position and there are very few occasions when it would be necessary to actually change the switch. The light switch is no longer an On/Off switch for the lights.

In Fog conditions it maybe necessary to move the switch from 'Auto' to 'Headlights' so that the button to turn on the rear (and if fitted front) fog light will be available. Fog lights will not work with the light switch in Auto.

Driving in the UK and Europe requires all cars built 2011 onwards to always have the DRL's  OR dipped beam head lights (high beam as and when required) on at all times when the engine is started.

I should have asked - in the auto position with the front running lights on - do the rear lights come on automatically later in the day when it gets darker?

Cheers

Geoff

The DRL's are only on the front. With the switch in the Auto position when it gets dark the headlights will be turned on and also the rear lights.

On some cars the DRL's remain on even when the headlights are on, but on other cars the DRL's will switch off at the same time as the headlights come on.
