Lighter Steering on 2022 model Kuga compared to 2018 predecessor.

Featured Replies

Just changed from a 2018 Kuga  Titanium AWD diesel to a new 2022  ST line X Diesel AWD - one thing I have noticed is that the steering is much lighter on the new model. Maybe the lower profile tyres, or perhaps the steering gearing is different? No issue just a statement of discovery.

The steering on the latest model is electric. Was your 2018 model the same or did it have the old type of power steering pump with fluid?

Completely new steering system on MK4 Focus from MK3 which is carried over to Kuga (Same car).

In fact, the steering and the brakes were the only thing that was any good on the MK4, everything else packed up or fell off or rattled

Glad you find it funny, I didn't

Hardly surprising due to the state of the roads. It's like a slalom at times, if you're not avoiding the potholes then it's the ever sinking inspection chambers and fire hydrants etc etc. Why on earth they put these in the drive line on the roads is beyond me but not as ridiculous as the water companies opting to put the majority of water meters that are sited in the footpath at the end of driveways.

Not sure I'm afraid, perhaps someone who knows the mechanics of a 2.5  Kuga can assist in answering your question. I think it probably was hydraulic but I am guessing. The MK3 is substantially lighter.
