C-Max 1.6 ecoboost outrageous oil consumption

Featured Replies

Servus FOC members . I own one piece of engineering marvel as the title says :))

The car is a 2012 model , i bought it in november 2020 very cheap because the engine was eating oil like a mf . After the engine rebuild i've driven it around 5000 miles and started to drink oil again at an alarming rate [ around 1L for 5-600 miles ]

The guys from the repair shop told me now that the PCV valve was not replaced , and they didn't even look at it when the engine was out of the engine bay . Does anybody had a similar problem with this engine ? Car has around 141.000 miles .

After the engine rebuild

Assuming that it's not got a major oil leak, then it must be burning it, which must be leaving quite a cloud of smoke behind.

So what did the engine rebuild include, cylinders rebored and oversize piston and rings fitted ?

It's burning the oil , forgot to mention that . makes a big cloud of smoke when i sit idle .

Oil burning is usually a result of blow by past worn pistons, rings, cylinder bore as mentioned above. Otherwise it can get sucked down worn valve guides or past the valve stem oil seals.

Faulty PCV could also be a factor in oil loss/smoke, by pressuring the crankcase and forcing oil back up into the cylinders.

As Unofix mentions, it would be helpful to know how comprehensive the rebuild actually was.
