Surging/flat spots when accellerating

Featured Replies

Mondeo Mk4 2008 2.0 Diesel Auto. EGR Blanked.

Drives perfectly fine in general, but when putting my foot down to get to accelerate it will start surging/flat spotting, by this I mean it will rev and speed up, but then stop, then rev and speed up, then stop, on and off til I get to the speed I want, then it will sit constant fine.

This only happens when accelerating moderately quickly, like a normal acceleration to get to 70 on a motorway for example.

I have scoured forums but nothing I've seen seems to be an issue my end... Although I have seen the Turbo Valve mentioned...

Any ideas please as I drive alot (70+ miles a day) and its really getting on my nerves.

Check all boost pipes for splits. Esp. The one closest and hottest to the egr valve. Note that splits can be notoriously difficult to detect with just a cursory glance. Oil on the pipes or joints can be a clue.
