Update on Smax

Featured Replies

Hi I posted on here last year with a issue with smax, can’t find my post. Anyways the car has now been to a garage for 7 ***** month and still not sorted haha, original post was car wouldn’t start after having a so called mechanic out to replace timing belt kit and new battery. Car had 7 bent valves, had all of that sorted out etc and just went and picked car back up today as after getting all that work done it still wouldn’t start, and apparently was coming up with some fault codes that he couldn’t sort out. Discovered that the body control module must of had water in at some point and the part that is called C1 Engine was corroded so is now going for a new body control module and have it all programmed so fingers crossed this sorts it out. Has anyone else had that problem before just out of Curiosity?? Thanks 🙂

Yes I remember your original post. As I said at the time you needed a new mechanic !!

I'm not in the least surprised that the timing was the cause of the problem.

Yeah well that part of it is now sorted, now it’s showing up some faults when plugged into a computer that the mechanic didn’t know how to sort, so so it’s going to a very highly rated auto electrician this week to have a new body control module fitted and stuff, I just prey that this is the end for all the problems fingers crossed

And yeah I got a new mechanic and he was an absolute cowboy aswell, wasn’t cheap either and came recommended off a friend but he had the car for 6 months just to basically rebuild the head after the last cowboy did the timing wrong and bent the valves. Must just be my luck to get inadequate mechanics haha

Water finding it's way in to the BCM is a common fault on many models. If the damage is just to the BCM it will be an easy swap out. More of a problem if the connectors have corroded.

Yeah the pins on the board are like a greeny colour, and the plug that goes into it is also green not sure if it’s on the pins inside the plug but I’m sure this auto sparky will sort it out haha

Little update on my car. It went to auto spark and there was nothing at all wrong with anything electrical or the body control module. I have just getting the car back and decided to try it myself so bought a head with warranty etc locked bottom crank fitted new head lined up cams locked them then bought a new belt from Ford and got all that fitted rebuilt the whole thing and won’t start I made sure I turned it over by hand first 3 or 4 times before hitting the start button. Is there more than one locking position on the crank?? And on my display inside the car it says engine malfunction. Had it on a computer and only thing that came up was fuel pressure sensor which I have replaced today and now no other codes coming up.
