Mirez
Hi All, I'm umming and arring about buying a used Ford Edge and I'm after your opinions! Coming from a Porsche Cayenne 3.0 V6 245bhp, I'm looking for something equally comfortable but less ostentatious and cheaper! I drove a 180 Sport Edge and didn't really like it, it felt underpowered and the steering was super sharp 'edgy', however I've now found a 16 plate 210 Titanium with just 18K miles on it, its well priced and whilst its not 'quick' its ample for day to day driving plus the steering is much more relaxed (I'm guessing that's the adaptive bit the Sport had - not for me). It seems to have a number of factory options including the pan roof, cooled seats, LED headlights and BLIS so all good. I've put a deposit on it and off to test / collect this weekend but I have a couple of questions: 1 - Is the SONY radio the uprated version or is the Premium radio the uprated version? This one has the SONY. 2 - Its currently got M&S Tyres on the front and Summers on the rear, this appears to be a big no-no so I'm making them change them but the Cayenne's AWD system could be damaged running this configuration. Is the Edge's AWD system reliable and less picky? 3 - Any other thoughts or comments? Anything I should look for on the test drive? Anything that frequently fails? Any input greatly appreciated! 🙂
bobfather
You may want to consider the later Edges, they came with a different and more powerful engine. Still 2L but with a twin turbo. I, like you, did not like the earlier Edges due to their lack of umph, coming from a 2L Kuga which is lighter and uses the same engine I was not impressed. The 2019 Edge is more energetic on the road than the 2L Kuga so I happily made that swap
