hi all

my mondeo 14 won't start. i replaced the weak battery and clean all the ground connection's and still no crank. got 'engine malfunction' and 'immobilizer active' messages. pls what i need to check next

You need the immobiliser to disarm.

Is it keyed ignition or push button start?

Is it a keyless fob or do you have a key barrel to turn the key in?

Ok.  That means the key chip should be ok.

This immobiliser active fault is fairly common on Mk4 Mondeos after a flat battery.  You can try disconnecting the negative terminal of the car battery for 5 minutes, then reconnect, to reset the system.  (But I have to warn you, it might also clear the remote locking from the key.) 

If that doesn't work, you'll need some diagnostic equipment to clear the immobiliser fault.  In the UK we generally use Forscan but that may not be available for your area.  A Ford dealer will have the correct equipment, but you would have to get the car towed to them, and then pay them for an hours labour or whatever their minimum charge is.

i tried disconnecting the battery for 24h but it didn't help, i can't connect to obd, i tested with two elm327 plugs

In that case I think it'll need to go to a garage unfortunately.

 i searched the forum again and i will try to check the wiring near the ecu
