Mondeo Mk 5 Phone mount

Featured Replies

Apologies if this topic  has been covered already, had a  quick search and couldn't find anything.  I've had my Mondeo Mk5  for over a year now, very pleased with it. One of the minor annoyances has been the lack of a suitable mounting location for a smartphone holder.  I recall seeing a mount that was created as a one off by one owner, that one  fits down around the  tray in front of the gearstick/ below the Sync screen.

I was in Lidl today (UK and Ireland )  and found this mount shown in the attached photos below, it clips pretty firmly into the air vent.  Quite a clever design, most of the weight of the holder and your phone  is passed through the bottom legs which  rest against the  plastic below the vent, not on the slats of the air vent which would tend to be  quite delicate.  When in use it  seems to be stable enough.  It also has a nice easy release mechanism, a hidden button on the back allows the grip  arms to be slowly released and your phone is then  easily removed. Just £7.99 iirc, and as usual with LIDL,  available while stocks last.   Comes complete with a handy USB  cable and  cigarette lighter style plug for charging.  The phone sits well below the windscreen/ line of sight when driving, yet close enough for a quick look when using Google maps etc.  And minimum distraction especially in the dark, and it's very convenient, within easy reach of fingertips  for right handed operation and less likely to attract unwelcome attention.
