Fuel Additive

Featured Replies

Hi Guys. Can some one help me please. I would like to add some Redex fuel system cleaner for my 2009 Titanium Mondeo but as the petrol filler only opens when you put the fuel gun in how do you get it to open in order to add the additive. Has anyone managed to do it.

Thanks

Mike

You need the "she-wee" tube which was supplied when your car was new. It's about 5 inches long and is just for that purpose. Is there one near your spare wheel?  If not, they are available on eBay or from Ford dealer.  But I can't remember what they are really called!  They are about £4 if you need a new one, I think.

peice of stiff hosepipe to open the flap then pour it in.

Make sure you have one of those anyway but the other option is to get an additive bottle that will open the flap (because it's the correct size). I use Millers Ecomax (diesel) and there is a sleeve on the bottle that enables the flap to be opened. Friend uses the petrol version in his Fiesta without needing the funnel too.

According to my manual they are called just called a "fuel filler funnel". When I ordered one I think I asked for emergency fuel funnel. It cost about £4 direct from my local dealer. Took a couple of days for them to get it for me.

The dealer was much cheaper than eBay etc.

The link you were posted above was £4.99 inc FREE P&P. Think it's a stretch to say your dealer was 'much cheaper' than Ebay LOL

and to think I've lost my commission on that potential sale. There's just no trying to help some people 🤣🤣

And that's not counting the cost of petrol to get to the dealer to collect it....😀

Twice !!

Once to order what was not in stock, and once to collect it a couple of days latter 🤣

I threw a load away last week. Both types.

Was £3.76 including VAT. eBay were wanting £12 at the time which was April this year.

My car is diesel.

Aahhh, the importance of reading the context of a thread - it was only started 14 days ago, not 7 months ago! When doing a 'search' on Ebay, you can put in a maximum amount you'd like to pay, that will narrow your search, and if no listings appear, simply slowly increase your maximum, and refresh search page. For most here, £4.99 delivered through your door is great value, I'm tight, and even I would pony that up for one if I needed it LOL

Paid £8 for mine from ford.😂 not the first time ford have ripped me off and sure it won’t be the last.
