Earth issue ?

Featured Replies

I have a family owned since new Mondeo Mk2 Verona 1.8 petrol.

Recently the heated rear window switch will illuminate when the side/head lights are turned on.

I'm guessing it is an earth issue, but does anyone know where I should start looking ?

Thanks

Far more likely to be an issue with the Body Control Module (BCM).

Download FORScan and get a good ELM327(modified) cable and connect up and see if there is any DTC stored.

FORScan: https://forscan.org/download.html

ELM327(modified): https://tunnelrat-electronics.fwscart.com/USB_Modified_with_switch_ELM327/p4541936_17045457.aspx

Read the thread title and thought, 'what the hell is Greta doing posting on a car forum...' Just me, right? LOL 😄

I didn't download Forscan as I am considering buying an Autel code reader.

However I note this morning the anomaly was not occurring, this follows a couple of dry days, whereas the fault arose following a few wet days.

I wonder if there is a connection ?

I had a visual check around the BCM. No damp, no loose wires.

What car are we talking about ?

Is it the Mondeo (age unknown) or the Fiesta 2012 (as in your profile) ?

Older Mondeo are know to have issues with water traveling along inside the wires from the screen wash pump and eventually making it back to the BCM causing corrosion of the circuit board.

Sorry, thought I had mentioned year. It is an X - reg, last of the Mk 2's I believe.

I should update that profile, That fiesta has now gone.
