Stop/start not working… battery too low?

Featured Replies

Hi

Just purchased 2021 Kuga STLine … stop start has never worked … it worked on the courtesy Puma I was given the second time I returned the Kuga to the dealer … they’ve had the car longer than me!!
They say they want it back for two or three days to charge the battery up…. If they do this, I’m thinking it’ll just lose power again and I’ll be back to square one.  It’s still under warranty but they point blank refuse to give me a new battery!
Any  thoughts welcome as I’m beginning to lose my patience with them!!!
Thanks.

The Stop/Start system is a gimmick. It was developed purely as a means for manufactures to get their models type approved for emissions under laboratory test conditions. In the real world it never works when you think it should, it only ever works when the car wants it to. Just forget about it and enjoy driving your car. 😀

Thanks for your feedback, it’s much appreciated !!  😁. I can now stop moaning about it and wanting my previous car back!!!
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Car is still under warranty. keep a log over the next few weeks/months, check for oddities (e.g. works at the start of a long journey but not when you reach the end), and pester them. You'll eventually get a new battery which, especially if you can time it for 2 years or so into the warranty period, could save you the cost of one later if you keep the car a long time!

I did this, mainly 'cos (not knowing at the time about smart charging, blah blah blah) I wanted to ensure that the car's charging circuit was not faulty or at least, if it transpired just out of warranty that it is, I had a record of complaints about the issue.
