Duratec engine st200 query

Featured Replies

Hi folks i have a question about the 2.3 duratec mondeo st200

I am in the process of putting this engine in my mk5 escort van and the cardboard type stuff that is between the engine and where you mount the gearbox on is in a well sorry state. I assume it’s to reduce vibration? I really don’t know….

Can anybody tel me why it’s called? how essential is it? and where the hell do i get a replacement?

it’s driving me ***** daft trying to find  anything out about it…

thanKs

Anthony

2.3? Is it a v6 or 4 cylinder you have?

And can you send a photo of the stuff/area your talking about

Sorry yeah it’s v6. see attached pic of the stuff, it’s missing in parts

Mmmm not seen that before, was it an auto box? Just wondering if its something they add just to fill the gaps?

looks like a bit of MDF from Ikea 🤣

Have you checked the parts catalogue to see if it is an original item ?

it’s like dense compressed cardboard it’s well random 😂

gearbox is manual though… i’ll check out the parts catalogue

i need to replace it or get rid for food because it’s bout an inch thick and will determine where the transmission mount needs to be located

Hahah the more you zoom in the more it does look like wood.

You dont think it could be a different box fitted and someone added it do u?

i can’t see it anywhere in the catalogue for either the mk1 or mk2

im pretty certain it’s the original MTX75

i think the answer must be to pull it all off, mount the transmission and make it so the gearbox mount can be adjusted I suppose.

Looks like a fire hazard.

Mondeo ST200 was a 2.5 V6 wasn't it?  If it's a 2.3, it wasn't from a Mondeo.

Yeah was definitely 2.5

Do you have the separate water pump gearbox end?

i’m going to offer it up and see. i’ve pulled the mdf stuff off, it looks a bit like an adapter plate… but the gearbox is definitely ford. Could it have used as a spacer for a different flywheel perhaps?

If its a different engine then yes, banger racers often use adapter plates, but they are not usually made of cheese🤣
