Focus Mk3 2013 android head unit?

Featured Replies

Are there any aftermarket android auto head units that are more or less plug and play with the Focus wiring?

I've got a Titanium X with the Sony head unit with DSP, DAB, front and rear parking sensors, a reverse camera and Sync 1. I'd like all these to still work on a new unit. I've seen the Sync 1 to Sync 3, but it looks like a lot of work and I'm not sure if all the DAB, parking sensors, etc will still work, plus it's very expensive, Sync 3 kits seem to go for about £300 - £500 and they don't have everything needed.

Thanks in advance.

I used to have a 64GB RAM / 16GB ROM 8 Inch Android 10 MTCE system with PX5 processor.

* Plug and play on a Focus MK3 with High Level audio system (which you have).
* SYNC 1 and SYNC 1.1 are fuly supported and can be accessed by an Android App that is pre-installed on the system. This works quite well.
* Parking sensors and Active Park Assist are fully supported.
* Rear view camera is supported but requires an adapter.
* For DAB an external (USB) receiver is required. I never bothered to install one.
* FM reception works well but is less strong compared to the original audio system.
* Sound quality is acceptable. A system with built in DSP is preferable.

The downsides are:

* Stock ROM is quite bad -> it is recommended to install a custom ROM.
* Vehicle specific Apps (for example PDC and Active Park Assist) are quite bad and contain bad Chinese/English translations. I rewrote a lot of these Apps.
* System can be unstable. Especially during cold weather.
* Small irritations like the media player not always starting in the morning or USB suddenly not being detected.

Overall this Android system was not bad but I actually prefer the SYNC 3 system.
