Mondeo MkIV Ignition Not Working

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

My Mondeo Mk IV (60 reg)will not start with the key.

When I turn on the ignition, all the lights come on, but when I turn it to start, it is dead.

Fortunately, we live on a hill, and it will bump-stat easily, but of course, that’s no good if I’m parked on the flat.

Any help and advice would be much appreciated.

Sounds like you have a failed Starter solenoid.

If when you turn the key to the start position you don't hear any "Click" and nothing happens then either there is no supply reaching the solenoid or it has failed.

Use a multimeter to measure the voltage of the solenoid control wire when the key is turned to the start position. If there is 12V then you new Starter Motor which comes complete with the Starter Solenoid.

Yeah, there’s no click, when I turn the key, so it looks you’re on to something.

Thanks for the advice; I will proceed accordingly.
