Electric issues

Featured Replies

Hi. I have a BA MK11 cab chassis. The ABS light comes on after a short period after starting. When I purchased the vehicle, I was told by the seller that it was the rear axle oil seal leaking oil onto the sensor causing the light to come on & also affecting the cruise. After much expense & time, this was proved to be false.I was told it was electrical so I took it to an auto elec. who could find nothing. Is there an electrician out there who really knows Fords who may have a solution. Also, the engine fail light comes on & when I disconnect the battery, it stays off for sometime before coming on again. Lastly, the cruise is now working but surges when engaged. I forgot to add, when the lights are on, it does not affect the performance of the vehicle.  Cheers... John F...

First thing I'd do is plug a reader into the OBD port, assuming that car has one.   It might show something useful diagnostically.  If you can get forscan on your computer and connect the computer to the obd port you might be able to get further useful info, if forscan is compatible. I say this as I've no idea about that particular car.  If you can get your car's service manual you might be able to find diagnostic procedures related to the ABS or check engine light being lit.  If you're lucky someone will recognise the symptoms and be able to reply the solution but that's a bit of a long shot.
