2012 mondeo diesel automatic wagon cruise control won’t turn on

The cruise control in my 2012 diesel automatic mondeo has stoped turning on. It started playing up a couple months back, it would turn on and then when I hit the set button or decelerate set button it would turn off. I’d leave it alone for a while then if would work good as gold. Some times I’d get in my car and it wouldn’t turn on while I was driving it around so I would put it in to neutral then back in gear and it would turn on and work.

Now I can’t get it to turn on at all ever and it’s doing my head in.

Can any one help me if it’s an easy fix or point me in the right direction?
