Key fobs not working

Featured Replies

My key fobs stopped working about 5 years ago on my 2005 MK3 Mondeo and I'd like to fix the problem. The batteries in the keys are okay and the central locking works fine when you unlock the car with the key manually. Does anybody know if changing this module will cure the problem or are the receiver modules programmed to match the keys?

The last time I tried them (around the time they packed up) the batteries were brand new

So let me get this right. You checked the batteries five years ago when the problem emerged and now you want to fix the problem?

You are clearly a wind up merchant here to waste the time of helpful people.

Try a Ford dealership. they will fix it for you.

I very much doubt that!  It's possible that when you changed the batteries you fitted them the wrong way round. Easily done. Remove them, check for corrosion, clean if necessary,  TEST the batteries with a meter before refitting.    btw, only One battery in the fob.

I found an online guide and followed it to reprogram the car to the keys by switching the ignition on and off so many times and now they work 🙂
