Information on Ford Mondeo Titanium X 3.0 V6

Featured Replies

Hello,

I have come to this forum to enquire about a vehicle I have just purchased. I have been advised that it is very rare but there doesn't seem to be much info online.

It's a 2005 Mondeo Titanium X 3.0 V6. I was told it was a limited run vehicle.

According to the vehicle registry, there were only 10 left on the road in Q4 of 2021, so I assume there are less now.

If anyone has any further information on this vehicle, it's rarity or it's resale value please let me know.

My vehicle is on 90000 miles and immaculate condition.

Thank you!

I had one in Platinum, actually a light gold colour, from new until I traded it for a new Fiesta Titanium 125 mHEV in October last year. You haven't got mine because it had only done 47,0000 miles and was immaculate. From the DVSA I can see that it is neither SORNed nor taxed and also not MOTed so I wonder where it is?

Not sure about the limited run bit. When I bought it in October 2005 it was a standard catalogue option. It was the last of the V6 Fords that I drove most of my life, all from new. Various 3.0 and 2.8 litre Capris, Siera 4x4s and lastly 24v Mondeos. The next Mondeo used a 5 pot Volvo lump.

In its day it was a high performance car but I have to say the little Fiesta is almost as quick to 60mph as the Mondeo was - but has a 25mph lower official quoted top speed, 125mph instead of 149mph. Apart from the engine and exhaust I think the rest of the car is pretty stock Mondeo parts. If you need an exhaust you may need to get a custom one fabricated - I had to as the flexible coupling from the exhaust manifold to the cat  was no longer available from Ford and that was several years ago now.

A very nice car in its day.

It was not a limited run, but sold very few. Is it manual or Auto?

Most people who wanted V6 power bought the ST220

Drop the X-Type 3.0 Engine in and enjoy😃

I didn't because I didn't want the boy racer look and the extra few hp were irrelevant for road use. My partner called it my stealth Mondeo. There was also a 3.0 V6 Ghia X version available, the difference to the Titanium being fake wood veneer internal trim on the Ghia as opposed to the metallic silver on the Titanium.

Interestingly whatever database most online insurance companies use for quotes seems to think that the 3.0 V6 Ghia X only came with a manual box and the 3.0 V6 Titanium X always came as an automatic with no option to vary it. In practice I think whoever chose the Ghia was more likely to have the automatic.  My Titanium X, though manual. was insured as an automatic for most of its life.

Hi,

Appreciate the info and advise.

Do you mind me asking how much the car was valued at when you sold/traded it in?

Thank you.

Hi,

The vehicle is manual.

Any idea on potential resale value?

There are none on the market currently so very hard to guage.

Thank you.

Hi,

Thank you for the information.

Any idea what the resale value would be on my one?

Thank you.

They are very hard to value. To an ordinary buyer they are pretty well worthless because of the fuel consumption and possible insurance cost for younger people. To an enthusiast who values the car for what it is, it is worth whatever he is willing to pay. At auction you would need two enthusiasts bidding  otherwise it will sell for low money if it sells at all.

Hi,

Thank you for the advise.

I'll have to list it on a few selling websites and see if it gets any attention.

I agree that it has to be an enthusiast who appreciates it for what it is.

Just very difficult to price as there aren't any out there!

Hi.

If you need any help with insurance at all then please feel free to drop me a line.

We could probably also be able to offer you a fixed agreed value too.

Regards,

Dan.
