No electric to Mondeo

Featured Replies

It’s a 2ltr diesel 2007 Mondeo, I was parked up yesterday ignition off etc. I tried to start the car after about an hour, upon pressing the start button, no attempt to start car just ignition on. I heard a strange noice then no electric to any part of the car(think battery disconnected no electric) could it be a fuse? If so; what fuse would cause that?

The first thing to check is that the battery terminals are both clean, and tight.

I checked them last night, they seem clean and snug. I parked up with everything fine, started it hour later whilst I was still sat in it and that happened

May I suggest that you check the earth straps? Last year I had a similar issue, turned out to be corroded earth straps. There's a few of them bolted to the chassis under the air box. Make sure they're all clean and that they are making a good connection. Then follow each one to the other end of the strap - again clean and make sure good connection. I think that one of those straps provides a ground for the starter motor, which is why mine wouldn't start. Maybe same for you.
