Steering malfunction message

Featured Replies

I hope someone can help. I have a mondeo titanium 2011 . Showing a steering malfunction message. I was able to start the car a few times the message still showing but now it won’t start at all and when I press the button the ignition doesn’t even come on, the RAC has just been out but the guy can’t run a diagnostic test because he needs ignition on to do this. Has anyone else come across this and how did you get around it before it costs me a fortune. Thanks

Was the RAC guy able to offer any possible explanation at all as to what the problem is?

When you say the ignition won't come on, what do you mean? Do you mean the car is completely dead, as in there are no lights on the dash and the steering lock doesn't disengage? Or do you mean the car will crank but won't start? Or do you mean the dash lights up but it won't crank?

If the RAC guy couldn't run diagnostics I assume the whole car is dead. I'm stating the obvious here but what kind of condition is the battery in?
