Ford Mondeo Drive belt

Featured Replies

Morning all, I have a 2012 diesel mondeo which broke down on Sunday, the alternator drive belt snapped and I have a new one ready to fit on....can anyone recommend the easiest way to do it as there is not much space by the tensioner.

Thanks

Access through the wheel arch is probably best if you can't manage it from the top.

I'm guessing that wasn't changed last year...The timing belt and Drive belt should have been changed at 10 years or 125,000 miles, whichever occurs first.

I didn't do mine as I paid a garage to do the whole lot but it should just be a spanner on the tensioner pulley nut and turn clockwise to release the tension, though you may need to find a solution due to lack of space.

It was changed just over 3 years ago along with the Cam belt but I do a lot of miles in all fairness....car has 165,000 on the clock and still drives like a dream. I'm looking at having a modified spanner made at work so I can access from the top and slip the belt in.

ah, ok. Shame it's failed already.

I have some ratchet spanners which are quite slim and I've managed to put a tube over the end to extend the reach previously, though not on my current Mondeo.
