Mk4.5 Mondeo - Aircon Woes

Good afternoon!

I’m hoping you guys can help me tackle my next issue on the mondeo please?

my aircon doesn’t work - a very common complaint. I’ve had it recharged recently without any improvement.

I took a look today and found the AC compressor pins had come out of their connector - assuming this was the problem I thought ‘hey I’ll just pop them back into the terminals of the receiving wire and test’ - but I don’t know which way round the two wire/colour combinations go and regardless which way round I try it keeps blowing the 15amp fuse.

can anyone provide a wiring diagram or some advice please? I am assuming one wire is +ve and the other is ground but i can't tell which is which on the AC compressor nor the car's loom (i'm certainly not an auto sparky!)

I have tried jumping the relay to rule this out and obviously power is getting to the connector for the compressor else it wouldnt be blowing the fuses (admittedly, pushed for time i didnt get chance to get my multimeter on the loom wiring to check this)

im stumped but it’s early days!

I had no fault codes when i started (presumably because the car didnt even see an AC compressor due to not being connected?) but havent yet hooked it up to my laptop.

Just to clarify:

No codes when starting to investigation

AC compressor wiring disconnected from loom

Unsure which wire serves which purpose - there are two

Fuse F13 keeps blowing regardless which way round the wires are.

Relay appears to be fine and bypassing relay with paperclip produces identical result.

Fuse only blows when car/air con started rather than when fuse inserted.

A/C compressor obviously isn't turning but turns by hand with engine off.

Hi guys,

im wondering if any of you can advise - I’ve managed to reconnect the AC compressor wiring correctly and I’m not blowing fuses anymore.

I’ve completed a scan and have no fault codes at all which I think rejects the purple wire fault (as this would show a fault code I believe?)

I can only assume I have a compressor fault but can’t see voltage to the compressor wiring with AC activated, engine running or at standstill.

any suggestions where I should be looking?
