At a loss now

Serious help needed please 🥺

So I have a mk4 Mondeo 2007 titanium x with convers+.

Initially I had error codes for front right and rear left sensor abs. So I ordered the sensors 1 week of driving.

I now have no Speedo, 3 abs sensor faults. Handbrake light constantly on. ABS light on TCS light on.

Ive attached an image of the fault codes using forsscan (hope it worked)

Any helped appreciated I love the car but it's nearing getting scrapped lol

Thank you

Recheck the sensors and that the plugs are properly seated.... but remove the plugs 1st and make sure the sensor pins haven't been bent.

Did everything work OK AFTER you fitted the new sensors?

Nah mate it remained the same. I tryed to clear the codes but forsscan wouldn't let me.

While sensors do sometimes fail and need replacing, it is unusual for multiple sensors to fail at the same time (excluding TPMS sensors which rely on their own batteries), just as it is unusual for multiple light bulbs to fail at the same time. Two/Three ABS sensors failing at the same time gives a good indication that the fault does not actually lie with the sensors themselves. It was probably a waste of money to have replaced them.

Given that it's obviously an electrical issue, it's going to come down to a broken/corroded/loose wire/pin somewhere, water somewhere it shouldn't be, or a faulty module.

Considering the year your vehicle was manufactured, along with some of the symptoms you're seeing, one possibility to suggest is that you may be another victim of the common solder joint issue with the IC's main connector. (Lead-free solder joints cracking over time). If so, please note that I offer a repair service for this myself. You'll find a link below. No offence taken if you go with someone else. One thing that can help indicate whether or not it's the common solder joint issue is to give the dash above the IC a thump to see if this temporarily resolves some/all of the symptoms. Another way, if you have a multimeter, is to see if you get 120 ohms across pins 6 & 14 of the ODB connector when the faults are showing. (You should normally get 60 ohms). There are many threads and videos available on this subject.

It is very much possible that it could be something else. It is interesting that ABS, TCS and the speedo all involve the wheel speed sensors. U1A04 seems to relate to corrupt ABS data. U0415 seems to relate to the TCM (transmission) not getting an ABS control message. C1A9x seem to be ABS / wheel speed sensor related. U0101 seems to be TCM communication related. U0422 seems unrelated, possibly a separate issue. And notably communication with the TCM failed.

I found the following video which is very interesting. A mk4 mondeo displaying ABS and TCS warnings, along with others. It seems that on this vehicle the wheel speed sensor wires go to a connector located near the wheel arches, which seems like a damn stupid place to have a connector to me. This person discovered that there was water ingress in that connector and this was the cause of their fault. Perhaps you're suffering from the same issue and you happen to be unfortunate enough for water to have made its way into three of the four connectors within a short space of time. Worth checking.

Thank you for that attached video ☺️ I'll have a look and see if I have water ingress anywhere.

I'll give the dash a good thump and see if anything changes. I did briefly read about the IC solders possibly being a problem but that seemed to be mainly MK2 and mk3 didn't see much about the mk4.

Would forsscan still read the ABS module if it was corrupt?

Thank you

Ok, let us know.

I'm not sure what the solder issue you refer to with Mk2/3 Mondeos is about. The issue I'm referring to relates to a big industrial shift to use of lead-free solder due to a change in EU legislation in 2006, which unfortunately ends up cracking over time. This issue certainly applies to most/all Mk2/2.5 Focuses (2005-2011) and I believe it also affects other models from around the same time period, before the cracks started developing and causing faults and they switched back to standard leaded solder in later models. Your 2007 Mk4 Mondeo falls within that period when this troublesome solder was being used, so is likely affected. A relative's 2008 Mk2.5 Focus developed faults just recently that I determined to be from this and fixed for them. Checking my own I found the solder joints to be in even worse condition but luckily I was able to fix it before it ever turned into a problem. I'm not in a good position to confidently rule this in/out as relating to your current symptoms, it could be the cause, it could be part of it, or it may have nothing to do with it and just be a problem lying in wait to bite you later like it was with my own car.

Electrical faults can cause unpredictable erratic behaviour. Successful communication with a module cannot prove with absolute certainty that there's no fault with it, however on balance it suggests that it's probably okay. It's to early though to be considering whether or not an expensive module needs replacing in your case. It's best to start by first checking that the wiring is all okay, then move on to considering a faulty module.

It's bad practice to simply replace components just because you've seen them referenced by a DTC. DTCs should just be viewed as giving useful clues about what might actually be wrong. You then need to properly investigate, if you can, to find the real cause. So for instance whilst the failure of ForScan to connect to your TCM is somewhat interesting, it's not advisable at this time to just go ahead and replace it. There's a strong possibility that the only issue you've actually got is something like water ingress in some speed sensor wiring connectors and fixing this will solve everything.
