HELP?? I can't get into the boot without central locking

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, first time poster.

Basically the central locking doesn't work on my 08 Cmax Titanium diesel 1800 now the doors aren't a problem kinda got used to doing them manually our issue is not being able to open the boot as it doesn't have a key hole lock only central locking. Does anyone have any suggestions 🙏 for Hubby to try for me? We'll be eternally grateful, having the steering rack fixed in the next week or two and indicated bulb has blown in the rear so he needs to be able to open the boot to replace the bulb (and I need to transport things in the boot that I can't drag over the seats!

Any little bit of help would be amazing. ThanksIMG_20200704_163340_374.thumb.jpg.bad7e3c704438630774ec09accdf5e75.jpg🙏span widget

The tailgate is remote release, a button on the handle.

Does that not work?

Check all connections at the fusebox, under the glovebox and see if there is any green fur on the terminal pins. If there is, then you will need to replace the BCM

If using the key fob with the little boot icon, remember to press it twice in succession...

It's not opening that's the problem here, it's unlocking.  The boot remains locked when they open the doors using the manual key blade.

The only way you could potentially unlock it without central locking is to lay the rear seats flat , crawl into the boot, and then remove the plastic panel on the tailgate to physically access the lock and either put power to it or manually prize it open.

Well, that sounds to be a great design, obviously from the same team that thought making a bonnet lock that needed the ignition key to open was forward thinking

It was. But nobody bothered lubricating the mechanism and it failed.

A bit like people who hold their car on a hill on the clutch, then moan when the clutch has gone.
