Air intake actuator stuck open

Featured Replies

I am returning to the fountain of knowledge that is this forum.

Our Mondeo (2009 MK4 2.2 Titanium X sport) as pinged some codes this morning.

P02e4 and p02e7 as per forscan.

Looks like it's probably the intake actuator/sensor.

Has anyone got a picture of where this actuator/sensor is? Or even better, a guide as to how to get it out so I can clean it/replace it? Google has given me many pictures, but no definitive answers.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers

There are two different 2.2 TDCI engines used in Mondeo's which may cause confusion when searching online.  I think Mk4 should be the later PSA DW engine.

In this case, locate the plastic intake manifold running across the front of the engine.  Then right in the middle of that should be the throttle body (intake actuator).

Looks something like this...

Thanks for the reply

Since my post I went digging and found exactly what you have posted. The plastic gears in the throttle body have eaten themselves and no longer close the flap.

I believe my MK4 Mondeo has the PSA DW12 engine (I've been doing plenty of reading since posting)

I have ordered an aluminium repair kit (£27) as everything else about the throttle body seems fine. Assuming the repair kit works, then all good, if not then it will be a new throttle body.

Will report back to confirm this was the issue.

Cheers
