New turbo fitted but still no power.

Hi, 

a week ago my turbo went in my 2.0L Ford mondeo. It’s been into the garage and had a new turbo fitted. Upon getting it back today The mechanic said to me that when I took it out on its first test drive it was a bit limp. However upon start up again it drove fine. I’ve never driven it back home and it’s went into limp mode again I reset the car and it seem to get a power but then suddenly dropped it again. No warning lights for black smokers come out the back anybody got any ideas?
