Running rough as guts

Featured Replies

Yesterday my Mk2 2000 Mondeo HE Verona 2.0l started running badly. After some fiddling myself and my old man found that the fourth cylinder wasn't sparking. Went to a couple of wreckers and got a new coil pack but now the car is running like an old lawnmower that's running too rich and smells like it but not smoking or anything.

The old man reckons it's going to need a new fuel filter and new spark plugs. The car has some electrical goblins as well which I believe are coming from the BCM which I'm given to understand gets wet easily from leaks in the wiper jet hoses (mine used to leak until I fixed it) so I'm concerned that it's the electrical issue causing issues but I dunno.

Any insight into this would be appreciated because I'm at a loss.

Sounds like you got an OLD coil pack...  Can you be sure that's in better condition than the first one?  Plugs & leads sound like the next thing to change if you're sure the coil pack is good.
