Active grille shutters

Featured Replies

I was wondering if some knows if active grille shutters would have been fitted to my CMax originally, there is no casing with missing shutters so if it was originally fitted with them then the whole lot has been removed. The reason I ask is in colder weather it struggles to stay up to temperature and can fluctuate a bit  so I thought I would reinstate if they were originally fitted. The thermostat has also been changed and the system vacuum bled.

2013 Zetec 1.6 tdci.

would be great full for any advice.

Probably not, my 2016 1.5 TDCi Focus didn't have them.

TVM soon got rid of those.

If you're overcooling consider changing the thermostat

If the whole lot was removed the engine light would come on. To stop the light coming on the motor would still have to be connected.

Thanks for the replies thermostat was changed not a cheap one but made no difference. It’s only when it’s colder so thought if it was missing the shutters it may have made a difference. Will maybe try a Ford stat for next winter just in case. Did look to see if I could find a motor still connected but couldn’t find anything. Again thanks for you response.

If you pm me your reg I can check if it had them when manufactured. Know the focus 1.6 tdci had them.

Yes, if it had AGS originally the motor still needs to be there or warning lights will come on. Usually people safely strap the motor out of harms way with the wiring still connected, so they then are able to fit larger intercooler etc

If you read Fords marketing brochures about the AGS they are not there to control cooling/heating temps - they are to do with air flow re fuel economy etc (over the car- not thru the engine bay etc)
