Occasionally it goes blank when the car is started, disabling the radio and phone operating

I presume you have SYNC 3???

That could be a problem with the ACM (Radio) too.

Delete Sync 3 from all your phones that are connected including Carplay etc

Perform a hard reset:

Turn on ignition but DO NOT start engine

Disconnect negative cable

Cover negative terminal on battery so it cannot make contact with cable

Disconnect positive cable

touch and hold together the positive & negative battery cables for at least 5 minutes, MAKE SURE they cannot touch the battery terminals

Reconnect positive then negative cables

Once car has powered up and started perform a master reset on the Sync 3 menu

In the sync 3 settings turn off Wi-Fi and automatic updates

Reconnect your phone.

See how you get on

If you still have an issue you may need to update the APIM (Screen) and or the ACM
