Coolant leak

Featured Replies

Hi

We have a ford edge with a constant coolant leak, the leak isn't visible but within 2 weeks we are from maximum to below minimum in the coolant tank, 2 weeks ago ford fitted a new engine and coolant tank only to find this morning we are below minimum again,

Is your drivers footwell mat damp? (If so, it's symptomatic of a heater matrix pipe leak)

have you noticed any water leaks from under the coolant tank sometimes the cap doesnt seal properly and allows water out through the top or where the pipes go into the tank they have 'o' rings on them and these have been known too leak. there is also an overflow down the back of the tank and water could be leaking here.

Thanks for your help, unfortunately this has been changed already

And there are no signs of coolant anywhere

I had similar problem, the expansion bottle cap wasn't sealing properly thus not pressuring system and coolent 'boiling' away then when I turned engine off the steam built up in system released and drained the expansion bottle.

I replaced the cap and solved the problem.

Amy Steve,

Did you ever find out what the problem was? I am having the same issue with my 2019, cannot find a LEAK anywhere. Ford place said there is nothing wrong. I think that it is going onto the motor I have seen the issues with the older Fords.
