2015 Mondeo key

Featured Replies

I need to get a spare key for the wifes 2015 Mondeo as it only came with the one so what's the easiest/best way to proceed.

Thanks

There are two parts to a Ford key that require programming in to the vehicle. There is the remote operation of the keyfob, the buttons, and/or keyless entry (if fitted) and the second part of the key is the immobiliser transponder chip.

Since 2013 the functionality for owners/users to add or delete the transponder has been removed from the vehicles own system and also from the software FORScan. This basically means if you want a new keyfob then you need to get it done by a Ford dealer. Expect to pay around £200

There are some key cutting places like Timpsons who will also provide you with a new keyfob but they often charge more than a Ford dealer. The important thing to realise is they only make a clone of your keyfob and do not provide a uniquely coded key. Not something that I would recommend.
