2019 Mondeo 2.0 Ecoblue 190, ST Line Edition, is this right?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I recently traded in my 2009 Mk4 diesel auto 2.0 for a 2019 MK5 8spd auto Ecoblue 2.0 190 AWD.

Problem is that I'm finding it a bit wild and hard to get used it. Anything more than a tickle on the pedel and it takes off. Take off can also be uncomfortable as it appears to catch after around a second or two of lag and jolt forward if you don't feather the pedal, or apply pressure slowly.

I test drove a 2020 8 spd auto Vignale 190 prior to buying this and it didnt feel anywhere near as harsh.

I did notice the behaviour during test drive but thought I would get used to it and the aesthetics and price won me over.

TBH it almost feels like it's been mapped. Came from a reputable dealer though.

So question, is this normal? Are the STI Lines different in acceleration and handling to the Vignale? Are they extremely responsive to the point of where you have to tickle the pedal around town?

Thanks for sharing your experience.

The engine is the same in both trim levels.

It is possible to select Sport mode which makes throttle response sharper and holds gears longer.  Though I think it reverts back to standard at every engine start.

A dealer won't know if it's been remapped, so that is still a possibility.

Though I'd try a gearbox adaption reset first.  I don't know the reset procedure for this gearbox, but hopefully someone else will if you can't find it through Google.

Thanks. The dealer sales a manger was the sole owner of the car. It feels like it's in pernament sport mode, and when I actually select sport mode it's on another level of crazy.

I did try to find a gearbox reset of which Google is filled with, though not for this particular 8 speed. If anyone does know that would be great!
