Hi all,

I’ve just bought my first modern classic which is a Ford Fiesta mk3 1.1 LX from 1989 and I’m currently in the process of changing all of its modifications made by the previous owner back to original. 
I’ve done a bit of research into what original models look like so I’m aware of certain changes that have been made to it (such as being de-badged, added the pepper pot wheels, different exhaust, small spoiler etc) but would appreciate anyone’s advise on other features that aren’t quite right.

Also any advise on where best to buy parts would be amazing.

Wheels, as you say, remember though, genuine XR2 Pepperpots are worth good money now, don't let people tell you otherwise

As it's an '89 it should have orange indicators, but I'd leave the clear ones on, it looks better.

Shouldn't have a spoiler either, but I'd leave that too.

Mmm... Interesting, I buckled one on my 1982 XR2, and to this day, it's in my mum's back garden used as a little flower bed. Wonder if it's worth rescuing 🤣

The wing indicators are orange so having the front clear indicators looks odd, I'd go for the orange version.

I'd leave the spoiler on too, it looks well, be a few headaches if it's removed! - Is it glued on ? - Is it screwed & glued on ?......Both cases you'd be in a mess which will need a respray to the hatch! Paint matching will really take some doing if it's the original & faded over time.

The chrome strip is missing from the front bumper! Has the strip come out or the bumper changed ? thin chrome strip is easily found on ebay these days, get the right width though, I'd defo' get rid of the pepperpots and find steel wheels, fitting new tyres with genuine Ford wheel trims to match, What's the rear arches like ?

Such cars are far & few in scrap yards, so you need to get searching hard.

Pretty sure I've seen these trims on the old Fiesta, only three mind you, must be anothers knocking about 😞

Plenty of Fords had that combination, including that model of Fiesta, I wouldn't worry about that.
