Hi, I have a mk4 mondeo with a constant airbag light on , had it scanned and it came uo with the code u3000-49 control module, can anyone advise please

"U" codes are just an indication of a communication error on the canbus. More information is required to narrow down the possible problem.

Using a generic code scanner no matter how good or expensive it is, very often fails to read all of the Ford specific DTC's. I would expect at least one other code indicating the module or the system fault.

Re-scan the car using FORScan on a widows laptop and a vLinker FS cable and there is a good chance you will get a more in-depth diagnostic report which will point you in the direction of the fault.

I've re scanned the car on forscan 

It's come up with internal electronic failure, restraint control module 

Would this mean the rcm needs to be replaced 

Has this light always been on while you have owned the car ?

Has any of the airbags or either of the seatbelt buckles been changed, disconnected, or gone off ?

There are many companies (search on Google) that will repair/reset the RCM

The car has been off the road for a few months was OK before,  when I first went to start it up, that's when the light came on

Nothing has been changed or air bags discharged

Could I not get a second hand replacement as a cheaper option
