Ford Mondeo Service History

Featured Replies

I viewed a 2014 Mondeo TDCI Titanium Edition yesterday and I noticed there was a 25k mileage gap in the service history. The Service History is as follows,

Jan 16 16k
Nov 17 41k
Dec 18 55k
Dec 19 67k
May 21 75k
Nov 22 87k

Should I avoid buying the car?

Looks like the servicing is all over the place anyway. Is this a 2.0 diesel? Schedule should be every 12,500 miles or 1 year whichever occurs first. Fuel filter and air filter are due every 3 years so check that this has been done (probably in the May 21 service), oil and oil filter, pollen filter is every year. (air filter probably done more frequently if it wasn't following Ford schedules, and Fuel filter might not be done if also not following Ford schedule as it may not normally be incuded in independant garge service schedules unless requested).

See if there is any history showing the rear trailing arm bushes (causes uneven tyre wear and weird handling when cornering) being replaced and front top suspension mount bearings (can get squeaky when turning ).

Timing belt, tensioner and idler pulleys due next year (10 years) as is the aux belt and anti freeze renewal, so bear that in mind.

If the car drives ok sounds ok, looks ok then I wouldn't see a reason to avoid.

That was back in 2016/2017 about 6 years ago. I'd hardly worry about something that did or did not happen that long ago. The car was most likely originally a lease vehicle and the servicing may have been done in house and not recorded.
