Ford Mondeo MK4 - radiator fan not working and AC

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

so my AC isnt working for some time and to my surprise I found out that my radiator fan isnt switching on. The fan is working allright when jumped from the battery.

I checked also the wire to the resistor fan module on the fan and on one pin I get 14 volts, on the small one I get 2 volts and the third one doesnt have any volts (ground?)

I cant find any wiring diagrams to help myself. I bought a new module for the radiator fan, but it doesnt seem to help. Any ideas how to check it further?

thank you,

Roman

This old thread might help. The Fan speed is controlled by PWM.

So  I managed to test the CAN network along each of the nodes, SASM, ABS and Yaw.

They all shows around 60 ish across the wires, so in terms of the physical network, it appears to be fine.

Since the earthing appears normal im going to take another look at the APP

This is clearly a problem and theres only 6 wires that can be doing something wrong, the peddle is fine.   Heres the Wiring diagram for that section.

  1. SSAN = ?
  2. AS = ?
  3. GND via CJB, not directly connected to Ground.
  4. GND for Pulse Width Modulation
  5. Pulse Width Modulation Signal (?)
  6. Spread Spectrum Pulse width Modulation (?)

Im pretty sure ill need a scope to measure whats going on here accurately? I have no idea what pin 1 and 2 are supposed to be though.

As well as looking at this I think I might see if I can get ahold of VCM and try updating some modules. ill need IDS to change the CJB or ABS anyway so its probably a handy think to have about.

Thanks, to be honest I cant figure this diagram out, would need more description. I know its a common fault

and in a repair shop they told me its the resistor module, which I bought new but it doesnt work, so I guess

either the new module is bad (which I heared can happen) or the ground is somewhere bad. Also I have no idea how to measure the pulsating small wire with a common multimeter.
cheers
