BCM Module Replacement? Mk7 Fiesta

Featured Replies

My fiesta randomly didn't start one morning.

I jumped it using my Focus at the time and it ran fine for a few days.

Noticed the bluetooth on my phone was randomly connecting to the car in the evenings. Didn't think much of it really.

Left it over the next weekend - flat again. Jumped it again and took it to a Family member who is a mechanic.

Turns out the radio isn't turning off properly when the vehicle is off and locked. It randomly comes on in the night and drains the battery.

They have so far replaced the radio and the battery but neither fixed the issue.
I've been told it may be a BCM causing the issues but that that part needs programming at Ford.

I don't really want to take it to Ford in case it's not that and i then have to pay dealership labour rates.

Wondering if anybody has experience with the issue and if replacing a BCM could fix it?

It's a 2014 Fiesta MK7, 1.0 Ecoboom (ha) Automatic.

It's a software update that fixes the issue, not a new BCM, the IPC (Cluster) also needs updating too.

Take it to Ford and pay the 2 hours labour to update the BCM, ACM (Radio) and IPC due to parasitic drain issue, they'll know you know what you are talking about

Oh and while you're in there, as you are Powershift, get the TCM/PCM updated too

Is that really all it is? Why would it just randomly begin happening?

My mechanic wants to replace the BCM for £600 but can't guarantee it'll work,

I feel at such a loss because it's been a cracking little car!

Do you own a computer that runs windows ?

Has it never randomly crashed or started acting in away it never did before?

A Fiesta 2014 model is full of computer controlled modules that as they get older sometimes start to act-up. Why now and not before is a guessing game, but software updates usually solve the problem without the need to start replacing the hardware.

Yep, a friend at work had it on his daughter's MK7.5

IPC (Cluster) is the main culprit but you need to update ACM (Radio) and BCM too and, while you're at it TCM (Transmission) and PCM (Engine) as you are powershift.

Keep the battery in tip/top condition with powershifts

ACM takes about 15 mins to update,

BCM same (make sure you take both remote keys, they may need to reprogramme)

PCM and TCM about 10 minutes

But IPC takes about 45 minutes

Katie, apologies, I've miss advised you.

It's only the BCM that needs updating, not the IPC

Hi Guys

I have been reading with interest your answers because my 2014 had a flat battery, took it to my electrician & he diagnosed basicly the same & recommended main dealer intervention which I have done this after noon for November . I'm biting the bullet of  £150 per hour for the initial diagnosis & £150 there after but as you guys have said they agree with that it should only be a software update😀.

Many thanks for your help & watch this space for an update.

Hi Ivor, any updates on this? What was the issue eventually?

Reviving an older topic (and have to own up to also posting in the new member section). I am about to replace the BCM on my car I have someone lined up to do the programming.

2011 Fiesta 1.6 Diesel Econotec UK

I am really struggling to find any video or diagram of how to go about this, any help would be hugely appreciated even if just two things -

What is the procedure for unplugging the large plugs which seem to have some kind of clip

is the BCM attached with a screw/screws and if so what is their location and type

Thanks anyone if you can help

Unclipping is actually easy once you know. On one end of the large clips is a lever, if you place your finger under the clip and lift it pops the plug out.
