Pretty sure that's not an S-Max in the picture? Would need to know which model and year it is. (I'm guessing Mk2 C-Max) Also how that light bar has been wired in? Does it have it's own fuse or just been spliced into the headlight wiring? And which lights have stopped working? Just the dipped beam or any other lights as well? I'm also pretty sure that is a LHD probably Swedish vehicle and that Mikael is on holiday in Hampshire or he's lost 🤣

mikeswe
haha, you guys are funny, but very good in guessing. I lived recently in Hampshire but now i am in Sweden. How did you know? Lol. Im on this forum bcs you guess are the best 👍 Well, its only my full beam headlights and that big extra light that are not working and just switched of in middle of driving. The dipped beams are fine. The car is of model Ford grand Cmax, 1,6 tdci, 2011. What kind of bulb or how its weird i dunno, maybe possible to check.

StephenFord
My goodness, Knight Rider never had a light bar as bright as that! Can you talk into your watch and just ask your car to come to you? 🤣

mikeswe
Guys, thank you for your help. I thought the fuse location was under the bonnet. So even a guy with an office job, Like me, can do minor things as changing the fuse bcs of guys like you 😅 Thanks again. A shout out Unofix for showing me the location of the fuse. Actually, this kind of headlights saved me from hitting a couple of deers. Its like a zoo here with all deers, elks(älg), pigs running around at night time 😆

mikeswe
haha. Now I burnt the fuse again. So clearly you guys were right about that as well The light is to big and cant carry the load, the fuse went after 10-15min or so. However i bought the car like this, summer time, so i really havent used it before so not sure if they ever had it working or whats up, why it started to work now. On the fuse it says 15. Cant i just put a fuse with higher number like 20 or 25, i guess i cant but if i cant why would that not been possible? Is there anything i can do to keep the big extra light, bcs i really enjoy it while driving : P
unofix
Yes you can put a higher rated fuse in. Just don't be surprised when the wiring melts, catches fire and your car is destroyed. 🙁 So I would NOT recommend that idea. There is a very easy and fairly cheap solution (£20 parts and 1 hour labour). The light bar should be powered via a relay which gets it supply directly from the battery, via its own fuse, probably another 15 Amp. 😀 The relay control coil will be connected to the cars normal High Beam circuit and so operation of the light Bar will be exactly the same as it is now. Since you are not a hands on auto electrician I would strongly recommend that you get the relay fitted by someone who is electrically qualified to do the work. 👍 2

StephenFord
Normally, a couple of LED Bulbs wouldn't really effect the current draw on a main headlamp circuit, but that light bar had about a gazillion LEDs! As already stated, get it wired separately with it's own relay, which you can also get it on a separate switch to turn on/off at a whim...
