Ka engine change a9a/baa

Featured Replies

Hi, I've got a dead ka with a totally destroyed 60bhp engine. Looking to replace it, but all I seem to be able to find are A9A engines which I believe is the 70bhp variant.

So, will it physically fit? Will it run? What will I need to swap over?

Any help greatly appreciated

The engine will physically fit, I can't see anything that's different from the 60hp from the 70hp. Same injectors, cams crank pistons, exhausts. So how the hp increase was achieved I've no idea. Even the pcm is the same, so maybe a mapping difference in the software. Is it worth chucking in another engine?

It's touch and go whether it's worth it really. It's an old snotter but not totally rotten and still has 11 months ticket. Cheaper to bang another engine in than pick something else cheap and nasty up I guess. Thanks for the info.
