Radio stay on and 12v sockets turn off?

Featured Replies

I would like to know if it’s possible to swap the circuits of the 12v sockets and the radio, so that the 12v turns off as soon as the car is switched off, and the radio stays on for the 20 mins after the car is switched off.

Car is a 2.0 TDCI 140 2008 Mondeo Zetec

Thanks

The very short answer is NO.

The longer answer is that the operation of the radio circuit is connected in with the Canbus control. After the radio turns off with the ignition you can switch the radio back on by pressing the power button but that's the only real option on a 2008 Mondeo.

The 12V sockets are controlled by a power saver relay that times out after 20 minutes. The relay controls other functions and so if you were to alter the power down time it might possibly affect other functions.
