Hi all, I have a 2008 1.3 Petrol ford fiesta, recently ive noticed that the fuel gauge sometimes reads zero, even though there is fuel in the tank, when this is the case the car will crank but not start.

When I get this situation I have found that if I lock and unlock the doors (odd I know) that the fuel gauge then starts to register, and the car will then fire up no problem,

So, my question is, what could be causing this? is the fuel gauge malfunction and the door locking and unlocking linked, or just coincidence etc.

Anybody able to offer some guidance here ?

Cheers

Hi,

You would be better off making a thread in the Fiesta section.

I don't think they were still making the 1.3 in 2008.  So it's probably 1.25 or 1.4?

Could also be Mk6 or Mk7 as 2008 was the crossover year so please confirm that too.

From the info we currently have im suspecting either a cluster fault or a GEM fault.
