First Kuga, first auto, first hybrid. Love it, but...

Featured Replies

Well my new Kuga PHEV arrived last Tuesday and after a week of driving it I love it more that I thought I would.  It drives nice and has plenty of room.  Its the ST-Line X so more toys than I've had in a car before.  I love the fact that speed limiter also keeps the speed in check going downhill (presumably as its hybrid and can use the regen braking to do so).  Its comfortable, and surprisingly pokey for such a massive vehicle.

I only have two niggles, but I can live with them.  I wish the parking brake automatically applied when turning the engine off.  My Peugeot 508 did, so after two and a half years of not having to I will have to get used to remembering.

Also, I wish you could enable the doors to auto lock after setting off without using FORScan (its a lease car so I really don't to mess with stuff like that), but again not a massive issue.

Finally, a quick question, as I've not driven in the rain yet.  How do people find the auto wipers?  I hated them on the 508 as they were far too aggressive and would wipe when there was nowhere near enough rain so got noisy very quickly.  They also had this annoying quirk where when you were driving and then came to a stop they went up to the next setting.  So if they were on intermittent (even though it wasn't wet enough) and you stopped at a junction they went on to constant for about 10 seconds before stopping.  General consensus on the Peugeot forum was that they were terrible and most like me didn't use them, choosing to operate manually as required.  Hoping the Ford ones are better.

Anyway, I love the car, and so does the family 🙂

It should do, it does on Focus but only if you have seat belt on, wait for green auto hold light and engage Park then turn off engine.

Just enable only that and then disable it again when it goes back, easy peasey
