A/C drain location? Water under carpets, lots of condensation

Featured Replies

Hi, I have had a condensation problem for a while now and thought it was due to a leak as there was water pooling in the spare tire compartment in the boot. Siliconed everything up and think that the water was collecting in the boot as a result of the condensation and not the other way around.

Very wet under the carpet on the front drivers side and passenger side and soundproofing foam sodden. I also have an inconsistent gurgling noise when  using the A/C and sometimes water spits out the vents. I think this is due to the A/C drain being clogged?!

Have googled a lot to find the A/C drain and cannot find an answer. Have taken off both drivers side and passenger middle panels and cannot find a rubber tube with white attachment as many people online say. Pictures show what’s behind both panels.

If anyone could help that would be so much appreciated! Causing a lot of anxiety and want to get it sorted before it starts freezing on the inside.

The Mk7 Fiesta doesn't use the conventional rubber pipe on one side.  The drain for these is just a short plastic 'lump' on the bottom of the heater box that goes directly into the chassis.

I think if you peel back the carpet on the drivers side, then slide out the grey underlay from under the heater box, you may be able to see the drain like that.  There is a small square of foam that surrounds it as it enters the transmission tunnel.

Thank you, I shall have a look! Do you know if the A/C drain can be located under the car? And if so, where? My plan B is putting it on ramps and blowing compressed air in to unclog the drain - I just don’t know where to find it!

If you mean DIY drive-on ramps I doubt you'll have enough access space.  The drain comes out above the exhaust heatshield directly under the heater box.  Not an easy place to reach on the floor.

If you mean a garage lift then it should be easier.  Just be aware that you may end up blowing more water into the car like that and whatever is clogging the drain will just find it's way back there over the time.  The drain is the lowest point of the system.

Hi,

Did you find the fault and get this fixed? I am experiencing exactly this in my fiesta MK7. It's so bad that it freezes on the inside and everything is so damp.
